Abilities are what make each person in the world unique; special things you're good at, things that make you unique, things you can't quite explain, all of these are abilities. Each student has two abilities at level one, and gain another every third level (three, six, nine, etc.). All abilities must relate to the student's experiences or circumstances.
Say Jack's father is a mechanic and has had his son help him at work on a fairly regular basis, Jack could choose something relating to cars as an ability. One example could be:
Mechanic: Jack knows the ins and outs of cars, so fixing (or taking apart) cars comes more natural to him than others.
Abilities can also be combat oriented. One of our more..... 'interesting' students can serve as example.
Her father is the master of the local dojo and has taught his daughter the martial arts.
Hagame Knockout Blow: A special technique of the sensei of the Hagame dojo. A powerful jumping roundhouse kick that almost always knocks out the person on the receiving end, however it is very hard to perform and isn't very accurate.
As you can see, abilities encompass many things.
